The consent was granted after an inspection from MPMSU officials in this regard. The MGM authorities had applied with the National Medical Commission (NMC) for increasing MD medicine seats to 35 from existing 14.
MGM dean Dr Sanjay Dixit told TOI, “The medical university granted consent for affiliation for increasing MD medicine seats for 2023-24 session. The seats will be increased after a nod from NMC, which will conduct an inspection from September to January for it.”
“The medical college will very soon get a nod for increasing four seats of MD in Psychiatry and two seats in DM (Superspeciality) in cardiology”, said Dr Dixit.
The medical college has 246 PG seats under different departments that is almost at par with 250 MBBS seats here. The PG seats numbers are increased in medical colleges in MP in two phases- first in 2012 and second in 2019.
