Tamil Nadu government to release MBBS/BDS rank list today

There was no clarity, however, on whether counselling will be held simultaneously with that of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of the Directorate General Of Health Services for All India quota seats in state colleges, besides central institutions and deemed universities. The National Medical Commission initially proposed common counselling but moved to simultaneous counselling after opposition from states.
On Friday, a month after declaration of NEET UG results, the MCC said online counselling students can start registering for admissions from July 20. But there was neither mention of counselling by states nor were the rules released. “The state is ready to go ahead with counselling anytime,” Subramanian said.
However, looking at the Centre’s schedule, DME officials feel counselling has to be held simultaneously. The MCC schedule says registration and payment for first round of MBBS/BDS counselling to 15 per cent seats in all India quota, and all seats in central institutions and deemed universities will end on July 25, and choice locking done between July 22 and 26. Processing of first seat allotment will be on July 28 and results announced on July 29. Students will be given till August 7 to join institutions.
Registration for second round of allotment will be from August 9. “If it’s back to back counselling there would have been some time between two rounds to allot seats,” said a senior official. Round two results will be on August 14 and students given till month-end to join allotted colleges. The MCC will also hold a round 3 and stray round.
After six vacant seats in premium government medical colleges after four rounds of counselling by MCC last year, the state urged the Centre to return seats vacant after round 2. This year’s MCC schedule doesn’t mention return of seats to state or private institutions.
