At least 450 fall sick, 50 hospitalised in Rajasthan's Dausa
We have admitted 50 persons who were suffering from diarrhea and vomiting. No death has been reported. The situation is under control. Our teams are camping in the affected area to provide on spot treatment to the patients: Dr Deepak Sharma, principal medical officer, Dausa district hospital.
“The incident happened in Rambas village of Dausa district where people had gathered in large numbers to consume food,” said Dr Sunhash Biloniya, chief medical health officer, Dausa.
The people from the village and nearby areas had gathered on Tuesday to attend a feast (mrityubhoj) offered in memory of a person, who had died two days ago. But, on Wednesday morning, people who had eaten the food started complaining of diarrhea and vomiting. Since the number of persons taken ill was quite high, the health department organised an OPD at the village with doctors from nearby community health centres.

The health department’s food safety officers collected samples of the food served to the people to check if the food was contaminated. They have also collected samples of water which they had consumed.
