Reason must for referring patients for tests, UP deputy CM Brajesh Pathak

Lucknow: Emphasizing that doctors should not make people run for diagnostic tests, deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak on Saturday said health staff should mention the reason for referring a patient for testing to another centre.

Pathak said timely diagnosis makes treatment easier and issued an official order to chief medical officers, heads of hospitals and medical colleges asking them to ensure implementation.

“Free testing is provided in almost all district hospitals. In places where it is not, patients may be sent to neighbouring medical college,” he said adding that said steps were being taken to ensure that bigger hospitals  are not overloaded on account of reasons that are manageable at local level.
