Meeting with min fails to end nurses’ strike

Bhopal: MP health minister Prabhuram Choudhary’s meeting with representatives from regular nursing staff failed to end their strike, which entered its fourth day here on Thursday.

Nurses working in health department-run government hospitals are on strike for the last four days. Nurses are on strike under the banner of Madhya Pradesh Nursing Officer Association with a 14-point demand. Association’s state president Ramesh Jat explained, our basic demand is 4200 grade pay. Presently in many states including Delhi, Rajasthan and UP, nurses are paid salary according to 4200 grade pay. While in MP, it is paid according to 2800 grade pay. Jat reiterated the demand with Choudhary but did not get the desired response. Now the next meeting has been fixed with the health commissioner, said sources.

Meanwhile, situation is adversely impacting patient services in hospital. Worst hit are district hospital and Katju hospital.
