UK surgeon in city to take home RMLIMS doctor’s technique
On coming to know that the technique developed by Dr Deepak Kumar, head, neurosurgery department, RMLIMS, has better results in fixing CVJ abnormalities, Dr Triston McMillan decided to come to RMLIMS. Narrating his inspiration, he said that he decided to do an observer-ship at the institute after getting to know on a WhatsApp group of neurosurgeons that CVJ patients in large numbers are treated through an alternative technique using an implant called ‘inside out occipital plate’ at RMLIMS that also has a good success rate.

Dr McMillan further said, “Back at home, I used to do one such surgery in a week. But here I am seeing complex cases of CVJ ranging from children to adults getting operated on with alternative techniques and getting well.”
The results are inspiring, and I will implement the same in Leeds after learning from here,” he said.
Director of the Institute, Professor Sonia Nityanand said that it is a matter of pride for the institute that a faculty from outside the country has come here to learn surgery.
