• Lucknow: Transplant Center at the Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences

  The proposal, amounting to 18.22 crores, has been greenlit, with orders to release the initial installment of 4.55 crores. The permission to create the transplant center has been granted for the sixth and seventh floors of the main medical building within the institute's premises. Upon its completion, not only residents of Lucknow but also those from the surrounding areas will benefit from access to healthcare facilities.

  On coming to know that the technique developed by Dr Deepak Kumar, head, neurosurgery department, RMLIMS, has better results in fixing CVJ abnormalities, Dr Triston McMillan decided to come to RMLIMS. Narrating his inspiration, he said that he decided to do an observer-ship at the institute after getting to know on a WhatsApp group of neurosurgeons that CVJ patients in large numbers are treated through an alternative technique using an implant called ‘inside out occipital plate’ at RMLIMS that also has a good success rate.

• DyCM orders probe into closure of medcounters at RMLIMS

  The attendant who made the complaint said that only two out of ten counters run by the hospital revolving fund (HRF) at RMlims are operational, while the others remain closed. The deputy CM directed the institute’s director professor Sonia Nityanand to look into the matter and ensure that all counters remain functional.

  The recruitment is being done after 10 years and the process started about four months ago. Overall 44000 candidates have applied for 534 posts. However, when admit cards were uploaded on the website of the institute on December 20, examinees raised objections citing long distance of the examination centres.
