Thiruvananthapuram: Central expert team visits FLTC
The two-member central team, deputed by the Union health ministry to assist Kerala in dealing with surge in Covid cases, visited a first line treatment centre in the district, the medical college and held discussions with collector Navjot Khosa on Saturday.
Dr Ruchi Jain, deputy director of the regional centre of the ministry of health and family welfare in Thiruvananthapuram, and Dr Prof Kumar Gupta of Safdarjung Hospital are in this team. The team discussed the early surge in capital compared to other districts in the state. Covid-19 management team in the district apprised the central team on how local transmission first emerged in coastal areas. It was pointed out at the meeting that it was too early to say cases in Thiruvananthapuram had begun to drop and that it would be another 2-3 weeks before a clearer picture emerged.
Thiruvananthapuram and Neyyattinkara taluks now report the highest case load among active cases in the district. The centre team is expected to assist states in various measures like containment, surveillance, testing, infection, prevention and control measures.
