Recovery rate improves to 96.4% in Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh reported 4,169 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the cumulative caseload to 18,57,352. The toll increased to 12,416 as 53 more people succumbed to the pandemic. As many as 8,376 patients were declared cured, outnumbering the daily infections for the 31st consecutive day. There are currently 53,880 active cases in the state, with 17,91,056 recoveries and 12,416 fatalities.

East Godavari reported 743 new infections, followed by West Godavari (659). The remaining 11 districts recorded less than 500 cases, with Vizianagaram registering the day’s lowest total of 80 infections. Other than East Godavari, the active caseload is less than 10,000 in all the remaining districts.

AP tested 74,453 samples to detect the 4,169 new cases, translating to a case positivity rate of 5.6%. The recovery rate improved to 96.4% on Tuesday, equalling the national average recovery rate.

More than 75% of the total beds at designated Covid-19 hospitals are now vacant. Out of 19,227 oxygen beds at 344 treatment facilities, only 5,406 are occupied by patients. The health department has denotified nearly 300 hospitals from Covid services due to the improving conditions in the state.
