PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry government issued show-cause notices to two private medical colleges and hospitals on Wednesday for failing to admit students sponsored by the Centralised Admission Committee (Centac) under state and management quotas into postgraduate medical and dental courses. The government, in the notice, asked the colleges why the essentiality certificate/no-objection certificate issued to them should not be withdrawn. The government sought their response before June 2.

"The wilful failure of the institute to provide seats to the students sponsored by Centac is a clear violation of the direction of the Union government and fees committee. The conduct and attitude of the institute with a deliberate intention to avoid seat sharing with the government are against the public interest and interest of the student community of the Union territory. Therefore you are directed to show-cause as to why the essentiality certificate /no-objection certificate issued to your institute shall not be treated as withdrawn," said under-secretary (health) V Jeeva in the notice.
