“During the Covid-19 pandemic, it was a herculean task to collect blood from different parts of the region but with the generous support from these organisations, the department of transfusion medicine conducted more than 1,000 blood donation camps and supplied blood components to various patients admitted in the institute, including thalassemia and cancer patients who required transfusion support at regular intervals,” said Prof Ratti Ram, head of the transfusion medicine department, PGI.
