People to be fined for breeding mosquitoes in Ajmer

AJMER: Health and medical department will impose fine of Rs 500 if any team finds that residents are breeding mosquitoes. Different teams of the department including 1,320 persons will start a health campaign and checking from December 17 throughout the district. Chief medical and health officer KK Soni briefed the media that the campaign is against seasonal and infectious diseases in the district and therefore the teams will go from house-to-house to collect blood samples to detect swine flu, malaria and other diseases spreading in this season.

Importantly the team will also help to get rid of water in coolers, containers, utensils, tanks and even in plastic bags that are breeding ground of mosquito larvae. “This year a notification has been released by the department in which teams are directed to impose fine of Rs 500 against the house owner where the larva of mosquitoes is found breeding in different water sources,” added Soni.

The major task of these teams is to destroy the sources where larvae are germinating. “We are also getting aid from municipal corporation as well as students of JLN Medical College and private nursing students,” said another official. He added that despite action these teams will also move in schools where they will create awareness against such diseases and ask students to destroy the sources of open water where larvae breed. “The main work of the team is to collect blood sample to identify such diseases in the region to stop spreading of seasonal diseases,” added official.

Meanwhile in last one-week number of patients in JLN Hospital increased and in last three days, the footfall in OPD touched 550 per day. “The condition of private hospitals and private doctors are similar where patients complain of cough, fever and cold. Their number has increased, and these are also symptoms of flu and other dreaded disease,” said a source.
