India has fully vaccinated 64% of its eligible population, while 89% of eligible people have gotten at least one dose. Vaccination has also opened up for teenagers, while the country's at-risk population is getting a third, booster dose.
The Omicron wave is likely to have begun on December 29, with cases rising ever since and active cases hitting a 230-day high today.
