The meeting was attended by the health minister, PWD, DUSIB, Delhi Jal BoardDJB and other land owning departments. Officials claimed that all the stakeholders have been given a list to inspect the feasibility of developing a clinic.
There are currently around 160 mohalla clinics, aimed at providing free primary healthcare to city residents closer to home. The Delhi government has set a target of setting up 1,000 mohalla clinics.
Around 52 clinics will be set up at DJB sites and six at sites under DUSIB. Officials said the remaining sites are under PWD.
The CM took an update on the number of sites inspected jointly by the departments. The feasibility study for these clinics is underway.
“A review meeting will be held later this week by the CM and the final decision on the number of clinics will be taken,” said an official.
The government also plans to expand and add more medical facilities in four of its hospitals, including LNJP, Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, Guru Gobind Singh Hospital and Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
As per the proposal, LNJP will get over 500 beds in the ICU, while Guru Gobind Singh will get a new block at an estimated cost of Rs 172.03 crore. The other two hospitals will get new blocks for trauma centre and maternity ward. “Work at the three hospitals will start after approvals and expenditure sanctions have been given,” said an official.
