The retirement age for doctors in the state is 65 years.
Silawat said that a committee will be constituted to will formulate the criteria and age parameters for the said recruitment. Retirement age for doctors in the state is 65 years. The minister added that health department has already received 57 applications from retired doctors who want to serve for an additional year. He said that there is an acute shortage of doctors in the 89 tribal blocks of the state and these senior doctors will be recruited for these areas.
The Cabinet on Tuesday also discussed milk adulteration issue which has rocked the state. “The government is seriously considering bringing a law with life-term imprisonment provisions for persons found guilty of adulteration of food,” Tulsi Silawat said. “Adulterated milk, ghee, paneer (cottage cheese) is nothing short of white poison. In the past 15 years of BJP rule, adulteration business flourished in the state. Action taken by the Kamal Nath government in 15 days is something the BJP couldn’t achieve in 15 years,” he said.
He said that an FIR has been registered against culprits in Ujjain, Gwalior and Khargone. “More than 1900 samples have been collected. This campaign against adulteration of food will be continued by the Kamal Nath government. In Uttar Pradesh, there is a provision for life imprisonment plus fine under section 272 and 273 of the IPC. We might go the same way and bring about necessary changes to the law,” Tulsi Silawat said. He added that the health officials who have been posted for many years and have been inactive in punishing culprits involved in adulteration, will be removed.
In another decision, the Cabinet approved 289 posts for upgradation and setting-up of five urban and 19 rural health centres. Council of ministers also approved construction of new buildings, purchase of new equipment and furniture for these health centres. Included, is a 200-bed district hospital for Harda, 30-bed community health centre in Parasia, a 100-bed civil hospital in Chhindwara, upgradation of Manavar hospital in Dhar district and 50-bed Samver hospital in Indore district.
