T med council issues notice to hospital for promoting fake docs

Hyderabad: The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) has issued notices to the management of Rush Care Hospital in LB Nagar for allegedly promoting unqualified and fake doctors.

This action followed reports on social media about the hospital's alleged involvement in sponsoring the 18th annual meeting of the Sushruta Rural Medical Association in Nalgonda district on Dec 24 where fake doctors were reportedly encouraged.

The notices were issued on Jan 3 by TGMC chairman Dr Mahesh Kumar and registrar Dr Lalayya seeking an explanation from the hospital's management and medical superintendent within 10 days. If no response is received, the TGMC warned of action under National Medical Commission (NMC) and TGMC regulations based on the ethics committee's decision.

TGMC vice chairman Dr G Srinivas emphasised that promoting fake doctors, such as registered medical practitioners (RMP) or privately managed practitioners (PMP), was unethical. He pointed out that many hospitals hired agents to promote unqualified practitioners for marketing, which was illegal and will lead to action against those involved.

The TGMC further cautioned the public about the dangers of consulting fake doctors in rural and urban areas.
