RML's urology dept upgrades op theatres

New Delhi: The Centre-run Ram Manohar Lohia hospital has restarted the urology department's minor operation theatres after getting them upgraded. With this, the hospital is aiming to conduct 18 to 20 surgeries a day and hence reduce the waiting period for surgeries.

According to hospital officials, one of the operation theaters has been completely dedicated to surgeries performed with binoculars, and the other has been kept reserved for operations with a C-arm machine.

The urology department of the hospital receives at least 500 to 600 patients a day and 10 per cent of them require a surgery. Many of these surgeries are such that they can be done in a minor operation theatre.
