After several minutes of chaos and upheaval that led to work being affected at the medical university, the university administration had to seek police intervention.
On Friday afternoon, a patient’s attendant reportedly entered the enclosure of a cash counter operator, demanding they speed up work, leading to a heated argument.
A statement released by the university later claimed, “The attendant forced himself inside the cash counter cabin and demanded his work be done first. He also assaulted our employee and created chaos. We also found that Rs 360 was missing from the counter.” In charge of the media cell Prof Santosh Kumar said, “The OPD caters to at least 5,000 patients every day. With such patient load, it is natural that there will be over-crowding. Even in such conditions, there are people who misbehave with our staff and go to any extent to get their work done first. It was only because our operator maintained his composure that the situation was controlled in time in the OPD.”
