The centre had sanctioned Rs 495 crore with the aim of sharing the patient burden at the PGI. Around 15% of the total patients coming to the PGI are from Himachal Pradesh. Earlier, a centre was proposed for Baddi but that later changed to Una.
On Thursday, a team of experts from the PGIMER visited the Una district hospital. It will be a temporary centre until the 300-bedded hospital’s building is complete. “Two doctors have already joined. Six rooms have been given where the doctors will sit to examine the patients. This will be a temporary centre,” said Dr Vipin Kaushal, who was with the team that visited Una.
