Dehradun : Free CT Scan, MRI, X-ray in 3 government medical colleges for a week
In the wake of cash crunch after the demonetisation of higher currency, three government medical colleges in Uttarakhand - one each in Dehradun, Srinagar and Haldwani - will offer free medical facilities like CT Scan, MRI, X-ray and pathology to all patients for a week.
Earlier, CM Rawat had announced that Uttarakhand government would provide free of cost medical facility across all hospitals in November to ease woes of cash-strapped patients. The announcement did not include medical colleges. The newly released order directs the three government medical colleges in the state to provide free medical facility until December 30.
Talking to TOI, director of medical education, Dr Ashutosh Sayana, said, “The CM has fulfilled his promise and responsibility towards citizens of Uttarakhand. We are hoping for CM’s continuous support in these tough times.”
Some of the hospital staff, however, said that the free facility till December 30 was a good move but on Christmas and New Year, the medical colleges will observe half day and even doctors would be on leave.
