Uttarakhand to launch MBBS courses in Hindi
A four-member committee from the medical education department crafted the Hindi curriculum, drawing insights from the Madhya Pradesh model.
Dhan Singh Rawat, the state's minister of health and education, said on Thursday that the curriculum has now been finalised and the Hindi course is likely to be launched by the end of the month.
The minister added that he had met Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya and requested him to inaugurate the Hindi courses, along with conducting the 'land worship' ritual for the AIIMS Rishikesh satellite campus in Udham Singh Nagar. "We are expecting that the Union minister will be giving time for both the initiatives towards the end of the month," Rawat said.
He added that the Hindi MBBS course material is geared towards providing support to students from non-English backgrounds and state boards.
"Those from Hindi medium backgrounds often face challenges with English-based MBBS courses. The availability of these courses in Hindi will aid their adaptation and learning. Language will no longer be a barrier to higher education," said Rawat.
