Pitch in to develop new medical colleges, T Harish Rao urges NRI doctors from Telangana
The health minister said the state plans to construct superspeciality hospitals at Warangal, four TIMS medical centres around Hyderabad and an additional 2,000 beds at NIMS.
Eleven prominent Telangana NRI doctors based in the US held a meeting with the minister who briefed them about the initiatives being taken in the state iregardinghealthcare delivery and infrastructure on Wednesday.
The health minister said the state plans to construct superspeciality hospitals at Warangal, four TIMS medical centres around Hyderabad and an additional 2,000 beds at NIMS. In addition, eight medical colleges will be built by the end of this year and eight more the year after.
The NRI doctors include those from Osmania, Gandhi, Kakatiya and Telangana Medical Alumni of America (OGKTMA) comprising 20,000 doctors from the state. This body constitutes one of the largest and oldest Indian medical alumni in the US, the doctors said.
The group of NRI doctors also included the leadership of American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI).
