Guwahati records 96% turnout for NEET at 34 exam centres

Guwahati: Guwahati recorded 96 per cent turnout in the all-India medical entrance, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or NEET-UG, held on Sunday. The National Testing Agency (NTA) officials said the attendance was almost on a par with the national average.

The city had 34 centres for the exam that was held in pen-and-paper mode.

“Altogether 15,500 candidates were registered to appear from 34 centres in and around Guwahati. The attendance was quite encouraging and no untoward incident has been reported from any centre,” an NTA source told TOI.

The NTA officials had reached out to the state home department for the smooth conduct of the test. On an average, about four police personnel were deployed at each centre.
