Chennai medical university increases research grant to 1 crore for innovative projects

Chennai: The state medical university will give a grant of up to 1 crore for research students to promote research in areas including artificial intelligence and climate change, Health minister Ma Subramanian said.

The university, which was offering 10 lakh as a research grant for projects submitted by students and doctors from colleges affiliated with the medical university, will now get 1 crore, he said on the day the university observed research day.

Research, he said, should contribute towards the improvement of care and services in govt hospitals. Earlier, the university released compilations of more than 1,000 research articles. It also gave away awards to the best academic performers and institutions with the highest pass rate.
