2-yr internship for 188 med grads forced to leave Ukraine
The Swasthya Bhavan said the interns would get a stipend of Rs 28,892 during the last year of their internship. It said the internships were only for those candidates who were in the final year of their undergraduate medical course in Ukraine, but due to COVID-19 and the war situation, had to return to India and complete their course in online mode and received their certificates from their respective institutes on or before June 30, 2022.

As of now, 155 graduates have been selected for the internship, and among them, 21 will be placed at Diamond Harbour Medical College, while Rampurhat Medical College will take 21 more. The rest will be spread across different medical colleges in the state. A health department official said, “Chief minister Mamata Banerjee wrote to the Centre and arranged for the internships, as the NMC (National Medical Commission) has cleared the matter,” the official said.
