Vector-borne diseases sting over 2,000 in Uttar Pradesh
To note, the Yogi Adityanath led government scaled up preventive measures against water-borne and vector-borne diseases after reports of mysterious fever killing children and adults in several western UP districts was reported.
Stating that the government was on alert mode to combat and control mosquito borne illnesses such as dengue and chikungunya, an official statement said that public support was crucial to prevent the spread of vector borne diseases. “A state-wide surveillance campaign, including spraying of anti-larva chemicals under extensive mass-scale sanitation, fogging and cleanliness drives, has been launched to ensure that no life is lost to the mosquito borne ailment,” the official statement said.

The CM ordered a highlevel probe which indicated that the culprit was dengue. While round the clock monitoring in the affected districts was ordered, alert across the state was sounded. A surveillance cum disease prevention campaign was also launched.
