Pending beneficiaries for second Covid vax shot cross 1 crore in Rajasthan

JAIPUR: The number of pending second doses of Covid vaccine in Rajasthan has now touched a crore while the state already has a stock of around 47 lakh doses. Beneficiaries who have received the first doses are not turning up, while some of those who have received first and second dose four to six months ago are demanding ‘booster’ shots. Meanwhile, the health authorities have launched a ‘har ghar dastak tikakaran abhiyan (HGDTA)’ with an aim of scaling up the vaccination campaign.


In the first 7 days of November, just 3.5 lakh doses of vaccines were administered. Post-Diwali, health authorities are all set to give a boost to the vaccination drive.

Health department officials will now be reaching houses of beneficiaries who are yet to receive the second dose. In October, the vaccination drive lost steam due to festivals and crop cutting season. Health teams will remind those who have become eligible for second dose besides focusing on around 89 lakh people who are 18+ and are yet to get the first dose of vaccine.

“Directions have been issued to all chief medical health officer across the state to implement HGDTA in their respective districts. Under the campaign, we are aiming to reach out to houses and for preparing a line listing of those who are left out of the vaccination drive and who have not received their second dose despite being eligible for it. Health workers should encourage people to get their doses,” said Dr Raghuraj Singh, project director (immunization), health department.

The health department will also make arrangement of vaccinating people at the places where at least 10 beneficiaries are willing to get the doses.
