She urged the public not to destroy bat habitats, as disturbing these could increase the risk of virus transmission. Additionally, she advised against consuming fruits that have been bitten by birds and drinking honey from banana peels, both of which could be contaminated by bats.
"Since the outbreaks of Nipah and COVID-19, the concept of One Health has gained attention. The state government has established a One Health Institute and centres in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. We have trained 2,50,000 volunteers to report and connect with government and local communities across Kerala," the minister said.

The minister said bird flu has not affected humans in the state till date. However, prior precautions are necessary to prevent spreading. Everyone should follow the health department's guidelines.
