'Mini-brain': Scientists create first-ever 'Chimeroids' using cells from multiple people
After three months, the chimeroids measured 0.12 to 0.2 inches (3 to 5 millimeters) in diameter and contained all cell types found in the cortex of a developing fetus. The team exposed the chimeroids to neurotoxic chemicals, including ethanol and valproic acid, finding that cells from different donors responded differently in terms of growth inhibition.
