Kolkata rape-murder: AIIMS, RML, IGH doctors call off strikes after Supreme Court appeal

​The incident that triggered nationwide protests among the medical community involved the brutal assault and murder of a junior doctor. Her body was discovered with severe injury marks on August 9 inside the seminar hall of a state-run hospital's chest department in Kolkata. A civic volunteer was arrested by the Kolkata Police in connection with the case the day after the body was found.
