Unnecessary platelet transfusion causes more harm than good

Unless a patient’s platelet count is below 10,000 and there is spontaneous, active bleeding, no platelet transfusion is required in dengue patients as it might cause serious complications like sepsis and transfusion-related acute lung injury.
