The Americas are bearing the brunt of the global coronavirus pandemic at present, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Friday, with North and South America currently having four of the 10 worst hit countries in the world.
The US is pushing relations with China to "the brink of a new Cold War", the Chinese foreign minister said, with tensions soaring over coronavirus, Hong Kong's status and other issues. "It has come to our attention that some political forces in the US are taking China-US relations hostage and pushing our two countries to the brink of a new Cold War," he said.
The United States has the potential to become the new epicentre of the coronavirus pandemic due to a "very large acceleration" in infections there, the World Health Organization said on Tuesday.
