Highest single-day toll of 1,099

India reported its highest single-day death toll from the Covid-19 pandemic, reporting 1,099 fatalities on Tuesday even as fresh cases climbed to over 64,000 after two days of relatively low counts coinciding with lower testing over the Independence Day weekend.
