Potential complications due to adhesions and how to prevent them

Adhesions, which are fibrous bands that develop between organs and tissues, are frequently observed following abdominal and pelvic surgeries, whether they are laparoscopic or open procedures. According to studies, they can be detected in up to 93% of patients who have a second laparotomy after the first one. They develop as a result of tissue damage or inflammation after surgery that causes an excessive amount of scar tissue to form. The symptoms of typical adhesions might last for months or even years, but they usually appear soon after surgery.
