The software will enable healthcare workers to perform dual screening of COVID-19 and lung diseases such as tuberculosis in remote and resource-challenged locations, and will benefit an estimated 62,500 people in the next 12–14 months.
Qure.ai, a health tech firm using AI for medical imaging diagnostics, has raised $40 million in a funding round led by Novo Holdings and HealthQuad, with participation from existing investor MassMutual Ventures. Novo Holdings is owned by the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
There is potential for artificial intelligence (AI) to help address a number of challenges, such as improving access to quality health care, particularly in rural and low-income settings; addressing the uneven ratio of skilled doctors to patients; improving the training and efficiency of doctors and nurses, particularly for complex procedures; and enabling the delivery of personalized healthcare on a mass scale.
Qure’s artificial intelligence solutions are deployed in more than 30 countries, across 100+ sites and have touched more than a million lives.
These solutions range from prevention mechanisms and testing to monitoring and manufacturing medical equipment.
Qure.ai will use this new capital to drive geographical expansion, expand product portfolio and support regulatory clearances.
