    India's exposure to lead cost the country 9% of its 2019 GDP

    On September 12, 2023, researchers from the World Bank published an article in The Lancet Planetary Health stating that the estimated global mortality rate from cardiovascular disease due to lead exposure in 2019 was 5.5 million, which is six times higher than the previous estimate (0.85 million) in the GBD (Global Burden of Disease) 2019.
