Pregnancy may make young mothers older, finds a study
The study utilized six distinct "epigenetic clocks," which are genetic instruments that assess biological age based on patterns of DNA methylation. The findings revealed a concerning association between pregnancy and accelerated biological ageing in young women. According to the research, each reported pregnancy was linked to an additional two to three months of biological ageing. Moreover, women who reported multiple pregnancies over a six-year period exhibited a greater increase in biological ageing during that time.
