IIT-Bombay offers painless ‘shock syringe’ alternative to needle

The shock syringe, no bigger than a ballpoint pen, is powered by a micro shock tube system. Using pressurised nitrogen gas, the device generates a rapid microjet of liquid drug, which penetrates the skin at speed double that of a commercial airplane at takeoff. Unlike traditional syringes, which rely on sharp needles, the shock syringe employs the physics of compressed airwaves to deliver medication, ensuring a virtually painless experience.
