The West Bengal Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission (WBCERC) has announced all its Covid treatment advisories are applicable to non-Covid patients as well and that the latter will be eligible for all the benefits that have so far been extended to those who tested positive for novel coronavirus.
The price capping on high-resolution CT (HRCT) scan will not be applicable for non-Covid patients.
Dr Suresh Kumar, medical director of Lok Nayak Hospital, told TOI that the facilities would start from the second week of September and to begin with, those suffering from seasonal ailments such as dengue, chikungunya, malaria etc. would receive treatment and gradually more would be added.
“It has been five months now that big Delhi government-run hospitals that catered to huge areas of the city have been unable to treat non-Covid patients. The cases have come down now and Delhi government has been able to contain the Covid-19 situation, leading to discussions on how to take care of other patients,” said a senior official.
It is very important to isolate covid and non covid patients separately in hospital.
Hindu Rao Hospital has started redistributing its under utilised healthcare staff to other facilities for the treatment of non-Covid patients.
