Multi-drug resistant Tuberculosis – A major concern in TB control
MDR-TB is a threat to human health because of challenging diagnosis and treatment, and results in higher mortality compared to non-drug resistance TB. Inadequate diagnostic infrastructure for drug susceptibility testing coupled with longer but less effective treatment regimen with toxic side effects and high costs make MDR-TB a disease with higher complexity.
