Based on his wife’s complaint, Avaniyapuram police registered a case and were investigating. Meanwhile, a team led by the joint director of health services, Madurai, comprising government siddha doctors, along with police carried out investigations at the varma treatment centre. They found that Sivasubramani did not have any qualification for practising siddha medicine, and was using a fake certificate to run his clinic.
Doctors harvested the liver, kidneys, cornea, skin and bone from the brain dead donor. An RTI reply has revealed that the Union government had released only 12.3 crore for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Madurai under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).

Subsequently, these VHNs were gradually posted back to rural primary health sub-centres in a phased manner. Answering a question on the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Madurai, the minister said the Union government had made an announcement in this regard in 2015 and the Cabinet had given its nod in 2018.
Venkatesan recalled in his letter that he had written to the Ministry on June 21, 2022, requesting that private Siddha daycare centers be empaneled under CGHS. He was pleased to receive a response from the Minister on December 28, 2022, stating that he would consider empanelment of daycare centers provided that they are registered with the Ministry and meet certain standards.
