Rising temperatures, longer monsoon drive Bangladesh's worst dengue outbreak
The dengue-spreading mosquito is flourishing in Bangladesh due to rising temperatures and an extended monsoon brought on by climate change, experts say, as the nation struggles with the worst-ever outbreak of the virus. As of Nov. 12, official data from Bangladesh's outbreak in 2023 revealed 1,476 deaths and 291,832 infections. Hospitals in the heavily populated South Asian nation have found it difficult to handle the growing number of patients.
