The risk of death from Covid-19 is 70% higher in pregnant women than their non-pregnant counterparts, according to reports by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, US. The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization, UK has also advised that all pregnant women be administered the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines. In Israel, pregnant women were included as priority as early as in January 2021. Chile, another country which has successfully vaccinated majority of its population, prioritized pregnant women in April and began issuing Pfizer doses to those with underlying health issues in their second or third trimester.
