Delhi cabinet on Tuesday approved the funds for launch of the AAP government’s health information management system (HIMS) project under which health cards will be given to each citizen for free.
The Pune Zilla Parishad (ZP) will soon launch a scheme to provide digital health cards to around 10 lakh children in the 3 to 14-years age group across 13 tehsils in rural Pune.
The health department was directed by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday to select a vendor by February 2021for issuing health cards to all residents of the city. The system is expected to be implemented by August next year.
Another point of concern in the scheme is the use of fraudulent measures deployed by many hospitals in Uttarakhand. As many as 14 hospitals were de-empanelled by the health department because they had tried to extort money from the scheme through fraudulent means.
Under this scheme, 358556 golden cards have been made till date, which is the highest in the state.
According to sources in the health departmen t, between December 10 and 18, as many as 397 cards were distributed t hrough these centres.
Over three lakh families, many of them below poverty line, which were earlier enrolled under the Mukhyamantri Swasthya Bima Yojna (MSBY) are left without an insurance cover as their health cards have been deactivated. Many of them are reaching in a state of emergency to the hospitals only to find out that their cards are invalid or have been deactivated
Health Card, introduced in the US last year, provides a person with basic information about a disease on the Google search engine presented in a layman's terms - like its prevalence, symptoms and diagnosis.
Running a Google search for a disease now will return the usual results along with a panel, which Google calls "card" that carries an illustration, major symptoms, need for lab tests for diagnosis, most commonly affected age groups, and indicates if a disease is contagious, among other kinds of information.
The health card was launched at a function by Patna AIIMS Director G K Singh. Singh later told reporters that the card would have medical records of a patient stored in it and could be accessed anywhere in the world.
