India, touted as the second largest producer of food, is also home to the second largest undernourished population in the world. A UN report for 2019 ranks India at 102 out of a total of 119 countries with respect to the prevalence of undernutrition among under-five children. The National Family Health Survey - 4 shows that over 35% of under-five children were underweight, and over 38% stunted.
