Endogamy causes population-specific diseases, reveals CCMB study

The study, led by Dr K Thangaraj, CSIR Bhatnagar Fellow at CCMB, revealed a high inbreeding rate of 59per cent across the populations. Additionally, 16-33per cent of the identified pathogenic variants showed significantly higher occurrence rates compared to South Asian populations.
