Women doctors outnumber men in the UK, 60% of medical students now female

Regional growth in female doctors has been significant, particularly in Wales (26%) and England (23%) between 2019 and 2023. At the same time, male doctors are leaving the profession at higher rates, with 54% of departures in 2023 attributed to men.
