Ernakulam district administration along with Indian Medical Association (IMA), Kochi, Hibi Eden, MP, and Muthoot Finance entered the Guinness World Records on Wednesday by donating maximum number of menstrual cups in 24 hours.
Ernakulam recorded the highest number of cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in the state between 2016 and 2021. Drug-related cases here rose exponentially in the last five years.
Kerala on Wednesday reported 3,890 new Covid-19 cases and four deaths. The cases dropped as testing also dropped in the state. On Tuesday, the state recorded 4,224 new cases after 25,307 tests were conducted with test positivity rate (TPR) at 16.69%.
The state reported 2,786 Covid-19 cases on Sunday. This is less than what the state has been witnessing over the last five days, where over three thousand Covid-19 cases have been reported. The state also reported eight more deaths on the day.
The state reported 2,471 new Covid-19 cases on Friday. This is the fourth consecutive day that the state is witnessing over 2,000 cases.
Treating doctors said that the majority of the persons testing positive are either single dose or double dose vaccinated.
District administration along with health authorities on Wednesday launched Dengue Hartal, a campaign to create awareness on the need to do source reduction activities to contain the spread of dengue fever.
Chickenpox and typhoid cases are showing a rising trend in Ernakulam, the health department officials have said.
Kerala on Monday registered the lowest number of daily new Covid-19cases in 2022 so far. The state reported 2,010 new infections during the 24-hour period. However, death remains a concern, with the toll rising to 65,333. There were seven deaths reported in the last 24 hours due to the virus.
Yesterday, the state reported 51,739 new Covid-19 cases, while on Tuesday Kerala had registered 55,475 cases, the highest ever single day spike in the infection since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020.
