Cough syrups should not be used routinely in every upper respiratory tract infection. Only in a select few cases where the cough is dry, we may use cetirizine. Delhi government on Monday terminated the services of three doctors working at its mohalla clinics who allegedly prescribed a cough syrup meant for older people to children aged less than four years.
The patient, a 63-year-old woman, was admitted to a private hospital last week with breathlessness, cough and high fever. She was discharged on Friday and is under quarantine at her Sector 51 home.
