The govt is focusing on ensuring health services reach all senior citizens through the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, and thus, Ayushman cards are being issued for those over 70 years old, aiming to provide excellent healthcare to all.

On the inauguration eve, CM Mohan Yadav said a new identity was being created for Madhya Pradesh in the medical field. At the speed at which medical colleges were being opened in the state, he said, there would soon be a medical college in every district.

Around 28 lakh people get benefit of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in the state. Initially, these 33.44 lakh people were left out, but the earlier BJP government in the state decided to include them as well in Ayushman Bharat by funding the premium from its own resources, an official said.
"Increased healthcare spending, coupled with initiatives like AB-PMJAY, can benefit both the public and private sectors, albeit requiring adjustments in pricing structures. Addressing the shortage of healthcare staff and providing regulatory relief, particularly in GST input credit, will alleviate burdens on the industry," said Dr Girdhar Gyani, Director General, AHPI.

On the achievements of the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY and Ayushman Arogya Mandir scheme, Mandaviya said, "By providing a family health insurance of Rs 5 lakh annually to 60 crore people of the country, free treatment for serious diseases has been provided. Under this scheme, today even the poor get their treatment in those hospitals where earlier only rich people used to get their treatment."
